Gene and Libby made plans over a year ago to move to Greensboro, so that they could live closer to their family in Greensboro. The only thing holding them back was an empty nest -- A home they had to sell first in Maryland.

The Journey

We understand the home buying experience can be a journey, and are committed to stay with you over the long haul. Gene and Libby's home in Maryland took over a year to sell, but we stayed in contact with them over the course of one year to give them support and encouragement, and to help prepare them for the home search in Greensboro. We spent time learning more about their wants and needs in a home.

Finding "The One"

Once Gene and Libby's home in Maryland was under contract, we had to work fast and furious to find the perfect home in Greensboro. We looked at many one-level townhomes in established neighborhoods, but all of them needed too much work or felt out-of-date. As the options narrowed down showing after showing, they leaned more and more towards new construction.

By process of elimination, this buyer felt like new or newer construction would be the best fit for them. We needed to find a home in great move-in condition.

Overcoming Obstacles

As the closing date on their home in Maryland drew closer, we grew very anxious about the timing of their home purchase in Greensboro. Real estate transactions involve many moving parts, and the timing is crucial. Time was quickly running out for Gene and Libby, so we sprung into action. Their main concern was that they would have to move twice or put their belongings in storage. They also didn't want to own two homes at once if possible!

The options for new construction were limited in their preferred areas of town, so we started looking at single family homes as well. They made plans to travel to Greensboro for a home tour, and ended up making more than one trip to Greensboro over several weeks to look at homes.

Success at Last!

We looked at lots of homes in NW Greensboro, but most were built 20+ years ago. These were very popular neighborhoods but most needed some updating or work. We finally found the perfect new home for Gene and Libby in a small new community located in NW Greensboro. This community is in close proximity to Lake Jeanette, so it is in a desirable, top notch location.

This transaction was quick and went very smoothly. Gene and Libby closed on their new home in about one month, and were able to coordinate with their closing in Maryland. Their new home has a low maintenance brick exterior, and the master suite plus a guest bedroom are located on the main level. Woo-hoo!

We feel like we've gotten to know Gene and Libby very well over the past year. We've spent a lot of time together, getting to know each other, and I'm proud to call them my friends! And now their story begins...
