In order to narrow your home search, we need to find out exactly how much home you can afford. Speak to a lender to get a pre-qualification or "conditional approval" letter prior to searching for homes.

It's a good idea to go ahead and start the loan process PRIOR to looking at houses.

Talk to your lender about "locking" in your rate. You'll also want to go over these Mortgage Do's & Don'ts, helpful guidelines to follow when purchasing a home.
MICHELLE'S TIP: Contact the same carrier that you use for your auto insurance, because sometimes you can get a better rate with home and auto insurance "bundled" together.
The lender receives the final loan approval, and a preliminary closing/settlement statement is created for your review. We will review the Closing Disclosure ("CD") with you, and you'll find out how much money you'll need to bring to closing, if any.
MICHELLE'S TIP: If you need to bring money to closing, it must be in the form of "certified funds", made out to the closing attorney. The attorney will transfer the funds to the seller.
Closing usually happens at a real estate attorney's office that YOU will select (Click Here to See Our Recommendations). At closing, you will sign a lot of mortgage loan documents. Then, the attorney will confirm loan funding and will disperse the money to various parties, including the seller. You'll leave with the keys to your new home!
